Ron Altman PT, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Dr. Altman earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago, one of the top physical therapy programs in the country. While at UIC, he participated in research on the science of motivation, and how it can be used to better connect with patients. As part of his clinical rotations, Dr. Altman has practiced in multiple settings including outpatient orthopedics, inpatient neurological rehabilitation, acute care, and school-based pediatrics, which has helped broaden his scope of understanding along the patient care continuum.
Ron’s passion is connecting with patients to identify their personal rehabilitation goals and to use those goals to individualize their plan of care. “I believe that with empathy, compassion, and the use of the most up-to-date evidence that I can help my patients achieve their most personal functional goals,” he says. Ron’s dedication to helping his patients is fueled by his passion for maximizing the body’s potential through exercise and human movement science, an enthusiasm that drew him into the field of physical therapy.
He has multiple years of experience practicing as a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy and has primarily worked in the outpatient orthopedic setting, treating a diverse mix of patient populations with a wide variety of conditions. He also has experience treating patients with dizziness and vestibular (inner ear) disorders, helping them regain their ability to fully participate in their daily activities. Dr. Altman treats all ages and diagnoses and is excited to help jump start your return to healthy living.
With Ron’s history of playing the piano as well as other musical instruments for over 20 years, he understands the importance of posture in injury prevention. This background also fuels another one of his passions, working with patients in the performing arts, from musicians to dancers. He is a lifelong learner and consistently exceeds well over the state’s requirement for continuing education for licensed physical therapists. Additionally, he is in the final stage of completing his orthopedic specialty board certification. Dr. Altman believes it is essential to stay up to date with the recent research literature and is excited to help his patients here at DPT Sport regain their independence while maximizing their potential.
