Welcome to the June newsletter from DPT Sport.

Please join us in welcoming our newest clinician, Dr. Sean Leninger, to our DPT Sport team!

Sean earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. He also holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Health Sciences with a minor in Chinese Studies from Northern Illinois University.

Over the years, Dr. Leninger has developed a passion for working with both athletic and older adult populations, as well as everything in between. He has a special interest in working with overhead athletes such as baseball players, volleyball players, and swimmers. He is experienced in video throwing analysis, which he has analyzed for countless high school and collegiate athletes. Additionally, Sean enjoys treating patients following ACL reconstruction and has assisted with ACL injury prevention programming. With the older adult population, Sean enjoys treating individuals with balance difficulties and arthritic conditions, as well as treating patients post-surgically.

While most of his experience is in an outpatient clinic setting, Sean also has experience in home health physical therapy, using creativity and functional activities to drive his treatment plans. Dr. Leninger also has a passion for treating individuals with chronic pain diagnoses, using a patient-centered approach, he uses practical strategies and customized treatment plans to help get his patients active and moving again.

 Dr. Leninger has traveled to Nicaragua to treat patients in underserved areas while also mentoring physical therapy students as part of an international service trip through the University of Illinois at Chicago’s doctoral physical therapy program. Sean is Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) trained and regularly utilizes these instruments to assist with assessment and treatment of various soft tissue conditions, such as tendinitis and tendinosis.
