Welcome to the January newsletter from DPT Sport.

We would like to invite you, your family, and any friends whose insurance coverage is through Medicare or anyone else who has loved ones covered by Medicare to attend:

Complimentary Presentation on

"What does the NEW Medicare HARD Therapy Cap mean to you AND What can you do about it?"

Presenter: Christine Klody, PT, DPT, MPT, CSCS, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Founder/Director of DPT Sport Physical Therapy and Wellness Center

TIME SENSITIVE INFORMATION-TIED TO THIS WEEK'S LEGISLATION!!!

Tomorrow - Wednesday, January 17th at 1 pm

in the Great Lounge at the King-Bruwaert House at 6101 South County Line Rd., Burr Ridge

We had many questions from patients and their families regarding the new Medicare Therapy Cap that began on January 1st of this year. It will be a short 20-30 min presentation giving an overview of the recent legislative changes in your Medicare outpatient physical therapy and speech therapy benefits.  These changes will significantly impact and limit your coverage should you or your loved one need either of these rehab services in 2018.  There is no longer an Exceptions Process in therapy for Medicare as there was in previous years.  Once you reach the hard cap, Medicare will no longer pay and you are then responsible for 100% of your therapy bills- no exceptions. Question and answer time to follow the presentation.

Bi-partisan agreement has been reached on repealing this new and potentially devastating HARD Medicare Therapy Cap, HOWEVER it needs to be added to the legislation tied to the government spending bill that may or may not pass in the next couple days.  IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU REACH OUT TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES TO LET THEM KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS THAT THEY VOTE TO REPEAL THE HARD THERAPY CAP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the current hard therapy cap limitations/legislation that was recently put into place, please join us at our presentation tomorrow.  More importantly, we will show you how you can help get this arbitrary Medicare cap permanently repealed to safeguard yours or your loved ones' medical coverage.

Thank you for your time and we hope to see you tomorrow!

Understanding Trigger Finger

Trigger finger and trigger thumb refer to an abnormal change in the tendons that bend the fingers toward the palm of the hand. It is commonly characterized by a “catch” or an inability to straighten out the finger or thumb. Thickening of the tendons leads to the formation of a knob which gets caught within the sheath of the tendon, and triggers this problem. To learn more about how this condition develops and how it is treated read below.
